Samuel H. Strain, geboren am 24. April 1874 war der Gründer der "Lighthouse Literature Mission" in Belfast. Seine Idee war, kostenlos Literatur zu den Leuchtturmwärtern zu senden, um ihnen über einsame Stunden hinwegzuhelfen. Er gab Postkaten mit Bildern von Leuchttürmen und Feuerschiffen heraus, um Jahresberichte zu versenden. Alle Karten wurden zwischen 1910 und 1914 herausgegeben. Weitere Informationen s. Leider weiß ich nicht, wie viele verschiedene Karten es gibt. Mir sind 134 bekannt (Ohne "Dhu Heartach" Variationen), von denen ich aber nur 41 in meiner Sammlung habe.Lighthouse Literature Mission Postcards sind teilweise sehr teuer. Vielen Dank an John Mobbs, Rudy Muller, Keith Hall und Michel Forand für fehlende Bilder. Über die Zusendung von Scans oder Hinweisen von weiteren Karten wäre ich sehr dankbar. Von einigen Karten werden auch bessere Scans benötigt.

Samuel H.Strain, born on 24 April 1874 was the founder of the "Lighthouse Literature Mission" in Belfast. His idea was to send free literature to the lighthouse keepers to help them in onely hours. He gave out postcards with pictures of lighthouses and light vessels to send annual reports. All cards were published between 1910 and 1914. For more information see Seamark No.8 p.73-75 (1996). Unfortunately, I do not know how many different cards exists. 134 cards are known to me (without "Dhu Heartach" variations), but I have only 41 in my collection. Lighthouse Literature Mission postcards are often very expensive. Many thanks to John Mobbs, Rudy Muller, Keith Hall and Michel Forand for missing images.To receive scans or advice from other cards lt would be very grateful. Better scans also are needed for some cards.
